Camping

There is tent camping within Oracle State Park, but it’s limited to 15 sites. Cost is $11 per tent per night. If you’d like to reserve one of these sites, please contact Oracle State Park at (520) 896-2425. This on-site camping option will fill up quickly.

Other than Oracle State Park, the nearest designated campground is Peppersauce Campground on the Coronado National Forest. Located six miles south on the Mt. Lemmon Control Road, this campground is tucked away in a shallow, tree-filled canyon cut by Peppersauce Creek through rolling foothills covered with grass, oaks and yucca. Campsites at Peppersauce are spread throughout a creekside oasis of enormous Arizona sycamores and Arizona walnut trees that cast deep shade in summer and a touch of color in autumn. Sites are first-come first-served, and one group site is available. For more information on Peppersauce Campground please click here.

If you’re looking for a wild and primitive camping experience for free, drive west of Peppersauce Campground on FR 29 — you must have a high-clearance vehicle to access this area — and look for numerous sites located on both sides of the road for the next 5 miles. The road deteriorates with each mile, FYI.
