Colossal Vail 50/50

The Colossal Vail 50/50 is an adventurous ultra run on portions of the Arizona Trail near the community of Vail (24 miles southeast of Tucson). Starting and finishing at Colossal Cave Mountain Park, the 50 Mile, 55K and Half-Marathon courses feature some of the greatest high desert trail running opportunities in this part of the state.
The gentle terrain, expertly built trail, and wide-open vistas made the first event in 2014 an instant hit. The Colossal Vail 50/50 utilizes some gorgeous sections of the Arizona National Scenic Trail between Saguaro National Park and the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains. The course was designed by experienced members of the Tucson Trail Runners as a relatively fast trail ultra on rolling terrain with great scenery. Well-stocked aid stations, comprehensive emergency communications, excellent event swag, delicious finish line food, and much more await all who participate in the event.
In an effort to reduce our environmental impact and the number of bees hovering around open cups of soda at aid stations, this a CUPLESS event. There will be reusable cups available for purchase through UltraSignup and at packet pickup, or feel free to bring your own!
We will be hosting a delicious dinner the night before the race, on Friday, December 5 at Charron Vineyards — just down the road from Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Tickets are $25 per person and include pasta and meatballs (vegetarian option available), salad, and a glass of local wine or other non-alcoholic beverage. Reserve your meal when registering through UltraSignup. Dinner is from 4 pm-6:30 pm.
The Colossal Vail 50 Miler is the first event of three in the Southern Arizona Triple 50.
