North Rim Ramble
Saturday, September 27, 2025 – mountain biking event
Sunday, September 28, 2025 – running event
presented by Summit Hut
This one of a kind half-marathon and marathon course features a 13.1-mile loop along well-graded forest roads and some of the Arizona Trail’s most pleasant singletrack on the Kaibab Plateau. The loop course crosses through an enchanting area of Northern Arizona, through idyllic forest of spruce, pine, and aspen, and in and out of limestone canyons. For almost a mile, the course follows the East Rim of the Grand Canyon, offering breathtaking views of Marble Canyon to the east, Vermilion Cliffs to the north, Saddle Mountain Wilderness, House Rock Valley, and Navajo Mountain on the Navajo Nation. Marathon runners get to experience the course twice for a second loop to complete 26.2 miles! Average elevation is 8,850 feet.
The long 10K (more like 7 miles) follows scenic doubletrack through the floor of Tater Canyon, sharing the final miles of the half-marathon course. It’s more like 7 miles, with a hard start and a hard finish…so don’t let “10K” make you think this is a walk in the park.
Sure, it’s in the middle of nowhere, but this is one of the most scenic events anywhere! Bring the family and stay for the weekend. Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Rainbow Rim Trail, Buckskin Gulch, The Wave, and Coyote Buttes are all located nearby.
Marathon starts at 7 a.m. (Arizona time)
Half-Marathon starts at 7:15 a.m. (Arizona time)
7-Mile starts at 7:30 a.m. (Arizona time)
Most cellular telephones will pick up tower signals from nearby Utah, which will throw the time off by one hour. Know what time it is so you don’t miss your start!
The forest surrounding this event remains far outside the closure areas for the White Sage and Dragon Bravo Fires! Just don’t count on lodging at the Grand Canyon North Rim (lodge or camping areas within Grand Canyon National Park).
